Iris Apfel has become a global sensation with her eclectic and totally eccentric sense of statement style. She has been called a fashion legend, and I totally agree. Iris Apfel has developed a large following of young people attracted to her unique blend of aesthetic brilliance and self-assurance. Her color block and fashion awareness is so amazing, fashion forward, futuristic even. Now that she has made such a huge wave in the fashion world, the Le Bon Marché is going to stage and exhibition in her honor. “Iris in Paris” will include window displays and a pop-up store with display cabinets showcasing ten outfits Apfel has put together for various activities in the French capital. The pictures do the talking and every picture that Iris takes screams tantalizing, taste overload!! The exhibition is going to be epic….. Surprisingly enough, Iris has been quoted saying “During the day, I wear jeans or tights, or something like that. I can’t work when I’m all done up, and I work almost all the time, so I’m not in full regalia”. When she is done up like a fashion doll, she does it well and makes it look so effortless!! A true diva of style, yet interior designer by trade. What a woman, and what a honor to have her outfits in Paris, one of the fashion capitals of the world! In her 90’s, you would expect for this fashionista to slow down, but she has no intentions of doing so. Iris said “I like to keep very occupied and creative. Right now, it’s terribly important to me. I lost my husband six months ago. Next week, we would have been married 68 years. We were very close, and so I have to keep myself totally distracted. And I love what I’m doing, so it’s very, very fortunate that in my dotage, people have come to me,”. What an inspiration, for many and all. If you love fashion and your in Paris, then stop by the Paris department store Le Bon Marché from Feb. 27 to March 26.
